PL&W Scholarship
Applicant for this scholarship must be a student residing in the home of a PL&WCo served residence for the duration of his/her high school education.

PURPOSE OF SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship award will be made to a graduating senior of Washington High School to assist a deserving student in continuing his/her education.

AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 shall be available annually to be awarded to one student.

SELECTION PROCESS
The Faculty Scholarship Committee will select one recipient and may select an alternate.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
- 1) Recipient must be a graduating senior who lives within the Parkland Light & Water Co. electric or water service area. Student must present a photocopy of their PL&WCo bill with their application. PL&WCo will verify applicant household has been served by PL&WCo for the past 3 years.
- 2) Recipient must have an accumulated grade point average of 3.00 or better for the last 6 semesters (or three years) of high school.
- 3) Recipient must plan to complete an educational program approved by the committee. The program may be a vocational school, community college, a four year college, or university program.
- 4) Recipient must be a student who has shown good citizenship.
- 5) Recipient must certify that he/she has received less than $4,000 in other scholarship/financial grant moneys for the first year of advanced education.

ADMINISTRATION OF THE FUNDS
Upon student registration, the Franklin Pierce Foundation will release funds to the institution in the name of the student.

DEFAULT OF SCHOLARSHIP
In the case where the student fails to register and attend classes the scholarship money may be awarded to the selected alternate or held by the Franklin Pierce Foundation as the following year's award. Interest earned by the $1,000 in such a case shall be contributed to the Foundation.
